A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE FIRM

BDA Consultants Pty Ltd is a firm of consulting quantity surveyors, established in early 1984, and offering expertise in most financial aspects of the construction industry, including feasibility reports; budget preparation and cash flow projections; project and construction management; preparation of schedule rates, sub-contract tender packages and/or material order lists; claims assessment, negotiation & settlement; valuations for delapidations, insurance or asset management purposes; as well as advice on building contracts and the traditional, core activities of estimating and cost planning, tender documentation and financial administration of construction projects.

We are wholly Australian owned and controlled and have no affinities with building contractors, suppliers, processes, etc., or other organisations, that might preclude unbiased, independent advice. We obtain our fee income from professional consultancy commissions only.

We are registered with Federal and NSW State Government departments and instrumentalities and regularly undertake commissions from these as well as local councils, universities, hospitals, schools, churches, clubs, etc. and commercial corporations, finance houses, developers, private companies and individuals.

Quality assurance procedures, in accordance with AS 3902, are fully documented and partially implemented and were verified by external audit in 1994 to NSW Department of Public Works & Services’ requirements.

We offer services in critical path programming and in asset management, including cost/benefit analyses, value engineering and whole-life costs. We have also established an enviable reputation in the analysis of investment properties for depreciation and other taxation deductions.

Our recent workload has included projects ranging from suburban residential alterations to major state-wide housing programmes, from new or recycled industrial space to CBD hotel and office developments, public buildings, research laboratories, lecture theatres and performance spaces, courthouses, assembly halls, regional parks, malls and landscaping, etc. and also includes civil engineering contracts, process plant and mining infrastructure, specialised services requirements and the like.

We have the capacity, experience and resources to assist with cost control and documentation on most construction projects, from the smallest, up to those with a gross value in excess of $ 200 million.

We are pleased to quote lump sum, percentage or hourly rate fees as appropriate. Charges vary from about $ 85.00 per hour for a qualified quantity surveyor, up to $ 250.00 per hour should a director be specifically requested for more sensitive commissions.

Personal, technical and trade references can be supplied, as well as CV’s for the directors and senior staff, lists of clients, examples of recent projects, etc., if requested. Current professional indemnity insurance is for $ 2 000 000.00 and this can be increased if required.
